Has your SketchUp model become slow due to complex objects in your drawing? Unfortunately, SketchUp is not capable of handling millions of polygons. With Skimp, you can easily “Skimp” any object and drastically reduce the number of faces while maintaining the quality of the object.
Select the desired object to be modified and Skimp can optimize it in seconds. By dragging the slider, you can determine the number of surfaces to the desired result.
Skimp also preserves the properties of the object. Components remain components even if they are nested in other groups or components.
Importing models and objects
Skimp is a lightning-fast importer but speed alone is not what makes this feature so powerful. Skimp allows you to preview and optimize the model before importing the model or object. A preview of the model to be imported is loaded within seconds!
Once you click on the model, you can determine the orientation and size units and then optimize the model directly before importing it. Skimp supports the following formats:
- FBX
- OBJ
- STL
- DAE
- 3DS
- PLY
- VRML
- GLB/gITF (nieuw Skimp v2.0)
- USD (.usda, .usdc en .usdz) (nieuw Skimp v2.0)
- SKP (nieuw Skimp v2.0)

New in v2.0
In addition to the additional file formats that can be imported, there are also a lot of improvements that increase user convenience including:
- Preview now also shows textures and shading
- A progress bar is now shown during import
- Transparent materials are now imported correctly
- ...and a lot more like bugfixes
