"Auth token cannot be used. The user must sign in."

Report:

Mac users in particular may encounter this problem.

This is due to the fact that the login session has expired and SketchUp needs to be logged in again.

Solution:

  • Close SketchUp completely
  • Open SketchUp from the Apps (not from a drawing) and in the welcome screen, click on the little doll in the upper right corner and then click on “Sign Out”
  • On the next screen, click “Sign In” and enter your information.

After this, the problem will be solved.


If the above does not solve the “Auth token” problem, you can do the following:

  1. Shut down SketchUp completely by “Quit SketchUp”
  2. Open the Finder
  3. In the drop-down menu, go to “Go” and select “Go to folder”.
  4. In the search box, type “~/library”.
  5. Open the Application Support folder
  6. Open the folder SketchUp20xx
  7. Delete the file “login_session.dat”
  8. Restart SketchUp and click “Sign in” to log in again.
